It’s been abit of a long road, but we have finally made it to the launch of The Pig and the Plow. We are so excited to introduce you to all of the fresh local grown goodness Northern Colorado has to offer.
We didn’t get to this point without help. So many of you showed your support for local food during our Community Funded campaign earlier this year. That support enabled us to work with a wonderful local company, Nerdy Mind, to build a really great website.
And then there were the wonderful local businesses, our Founding Farmers, that supported this project with donations to the Community Funded campaign, friendship and encouragement. I am always in awe of those people in our communities who nourish us with their passion and their labor. Check out the list of these wonderful folks at the bottom of this post, and support them whenever you can.
This site is just one of the ways I have found to support our local food providers. It all started with an opportunity to write a local blog, Farming Fort Collins. From there it became apparent that a lot of people wanted to buy locally, but didn’t know where to start. There was a big gap in the online resources. An idea sprang up to fill that gap and provide people with a simple way to locate fresh local food. This last year has been a huge undertaking in creating this online information hub. We curate the information so you don’t have to. A one stop information platform that will help you find what you’re looking for, whether it be lamb, goat cheese, or a weekly share of seasonal vegetables.
It doesn’t stop there! This blog, and a digital newsletter will provide you with all the information you need on how to cook in season, simply and cheaply, and how to participate in all the wonderful things this amazing agricultural community has to offer.
We are launching in Northern Colorado this month! And in just a few short months we will expand to cover the Denver area. Within the year we will have mapped out all of Colorado!! We hope you appreciate all the hard work that has gone into providing this wonderful new resource to the local food community. Please help us spread the word!
Again, special thanks goes to our amazing Founding Farmers. Without their support, The Pig and the Plow would still be just a good idea.
